5 reasons why "tropico" is my new lifestyle choice

So if you haven't already seen the glory that is Lana Del Rey's "Tropico" I suggest you take 30 minutes out of your boring day and watch it. It is life changing in the way that 9/11 was life changing...but good.

I've compiled ten reasons why "Tropico" is my new lifestyle choice and why it should be yours as well.

#1: Lana Del Rey as the Virgin Mary

More people would be Christians if they replaced all images of the Virgin Mary with this. Fact.

#2 Lana Del Rey as Eve

Literally perfection.

#3 Shaun Ross

Shaun Ross was the perfect compliment to Lana in this video. An African American, albino, bisexual model. Like how much more non-conformist can you get? His androgyny in the opening and closing scenes combined with his alpha maleness in the middle portion flesh out the drama of this whole piece and bring attention to gender roles in a subtle yet powerful way.

#4 The Music and Prose

Throughout the short film Lana weaves her songs, "Body Electric", "Gods and Monsters", and "Bel Air" with a combination of written pieces that just remind us of how good of a writer she actually is.

The in-between realm where only the choices made from your free will
Will decide your soul’s final fate
Some poets call it the entrance to the underworld
But on some summer nights, it could feel like Paradise
Paradise lost
Like, how even? She retains so much of her melancholy tonality that has become her defining feature while infusing it with a dreamlike fantasy that is only as affective as it is when being spoken by Lana, herself.

#5 Everything Else

There are a million other reasons why I'm now fully converted to DelReyism all of which can be found from just watching this amazing piece of work from an actual artist who has graced us in the form of a pop star.
