This week I'm doing a spotlight playlist of one of my favorite current artists, ZZ Ward. This girl has so much blues in her soul and does an amazing job at fusing that blues with pop sensibility to create catchy hooks that will get radio play without sacrificing their spirit. She's also a mean cover artist, taking songs out of her genre and flipping them to suit her stylings. Here is a sampling of her work, some originals, and some covers. I hope you enjoy!
Monday: "Waiting for Charlie to Come Home" (Etta James cover)
Tuesday: "Charlie Ain't Home" (Her response to Etta James' "Waiting for Charlie to Come Home")
Wednesday: "Hold on We're Going Home" (Drake Cover)
Thursday: "Grinnin' in your Face" (Son House Cover)
Friday: "Lil Darlin" (My personal favorite from her album. I was front row at this concert!)
