Playlist of the Week 3/10-3/14

I've decided that on Fridays I'm going to share a playlist of five songs that sum up my week/are songs from artists that I want you all to hear about. So let's get this show on the road.

Monday: "Million" Allen Stone
I've been following Allen Stone for years now, and this guy is so talented it blows my mind. He's the son of a preacher and has so much soul it kills me. He is coming out with a new album, but has recently released his single "Million" for free download on his website. Here's a video of him performing it acoustic that is just amazing.

Tuesday: "Pretty Thing" Broods
This electro-pop brother/sister duo from New Zealand are definitely up and coming. Reminiscent of bands like the XX, they create a synth-pop dreamscape with hypnotic collaboration of male and female vocals. They recently released their EP and I highly recommend downloading it.

Wednesday: "Collide" James Bay
James Bay is a Brit with a sound similar to Eric Hutchinson and Jason Mraz if he got punched in the throat. He resembles a young Johnny Depp in person which is always a plus, but his talent really runs deep. Bluesy, acoustic, soul is the name of the vibe you will feel when you listen to James, and I have high hopes for his future. After all, we know America loves a soulful Brit. His EP is on iTunes and he released some new songs for free download on his website.

Thursday: "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore" Alicia Keys
This cover of a Prince classic melts my soul every time I hear it. This version, in particular, sets me on fire. I'm pretty sure Alicia Keys is the coolest person on the planet. I'd fight anyone about it.

Friday: "#Selfie" The Chainsmokers
How could I start my weekend without blasting this song? "It's not even summer why does the DJ keep playing Summertime Sadness?" Whether you like it or not, this song is defining our generation right now and I think it's catchy as fuck. "I don't know if I should go with XX Pro or Valencia, I want to look tan." But really, "who goes out on Mondays?"
